When more work is awaiting

*stares at empty energy drink*

If I wanna be a winner…

Done more edits—haven’t looked into the font of agents’ contact details, who are just waiting to be unimpressed. pretty happy with the edits though—character saved from death earlier on is killed. Then, the character is revived to show the protagonist’s power and the revived character is changed because of the revival. But now I need to write up an altered battle sequence. So. Hm. That energy drink…

Or coffee. Probably coffee.

Book Update/ Game Update

I continue to seek agents. Rather. I’m trying again. Need to pace myself. Takes time.

I’ve made some mechanical improvements to the narrative and fixed some continuity errors and plot-holes.

Still nothing from agents but hey. Just uh. Keep going no? Sent out three new query letters recently.

Still working on Chapter 1 of the Grand Order’s game. Should be done soon. It’s a lot of asset building (enemies, animations, sprites, so on) When Chapter 1 is done it’ll have to go through beta-testing.

Chapter 1 of my game covers about chapters 1-5 of the book. With a ton of extra content.

Anyhow–that’s all for now

Soon I’ll be crushed under school-work. It’s slowly getting heavier.
I’m currently redrafting a section of my book to have a character live instead of dying. Doing so I think I can develop ideas of how they’ll cope with what happened. It gives me more connection between book 1 and 2, it also makes me feel less like they are seen as a ‘disposable character’.

I wish I’d have sent out more query letters, but since I’m redrafting elements I’ll have to wait until I smooth out my manuscript’s latter sections. I hope to send it out soon. I’ve done some edits to give the protagonist a more overtly ‘obvious’ goal. I think because of how I originally envisioned the tale it muddied the ‘call to action’ element that’s pressured to be there.
He is a passive character and slowly becomes active, but I feel making it more obvious may make it more attractive to agents. One can hope, as long as I don’t tarnish his character. I’ll have to be careful.

Hope all are well.

Of Publication no. something

It has been sometime since I’ve sent query letters out. Too busy with school (in my final semester). Never-mind the tribulations of the covid mess. However, I find the attractiveness of self-publishing becoming more glimmering. However, Self-Publishing is only for the financially solvent, and the supposed ridicule in a self-edited book would be too much. I know not if my manuscript is too unappealing to agents that it’s time to let it collect dust.

I toyed with the idea of putting it out for free, since I’ve grown tired of the project, and merely want to share my story. I’m not tired per se of the characters, story or otherwise, but the repeated research, query formation and rejection is such a suffering wheel that it makes me dizzy to think of delving into it again. Perhaps I fear I’ll become maimed should I just abandon this project. So much time and love put into it can just claw at one should they fail. It’s not merely the end of a project so much as it feels as though it is these characters’ deaths.

I’ve also batted around the idea of Webtoons or merely utilizing my Demo RPG game as a means of getting the story out there. The plotline of a ghost-seeing astral projectionist mayn’t be a marketable treat within the literary world at the moment, or perhaps the 10,000 other variables may be a hindrance. However, more comic-centric environments may be more fitting for the fantastical and combat-centric subject matter. Nevermind the ability to govern the artistic depictions. Cover art, character art and so on. I’m terribly uncertain as to what to do. This also may be an inevitable meditation due to having been rejected multiple times.

It is never said to be an easy thing to publish. Despite having finished the book two or three years ago and making occasional (sometimes substantial) edits, it’s been just sitting doing nothing. I’m dabbling in other stories, however, I enjoy this one the most. Perhaps I’m too close, perhaps it’s normal. Perhaps writing short stories just to get them out and finally have some sort of validation is what I need. Perhaps I’ve sunk myself too deeply in this. Perhaps not enough.

I hope you’re well whoever you are.

Agents and Query Update

My State

Oh, how my bulb has burnt out. Constant redrafting query letters for a slew of prospective agents, synopses of varying lengths, content tailored made for whatever agent I may decide ‘I guess that’ll work’ through their interest in my genera, and other conditionals has left me too weak.

Amidst university work and other art-related projects, it’s a slow process letting my filament heal, but I think soon, I’ll be able to delve back into the combative and time consuming task of finding an agent.

The State of the Book

I’ve revised the Grand Order to a point that most editing is superficial now. Thinking of doing anything makes me nauseous anymore. Largely, due to this late stage of revisions. At 120 thousand words, post massive rewrites where the book was at around 85-90 thousand, has rendered the manuscript thickly packed.

I do believe that my next work will be superior. However, at this point, aside from some extra chapters, and side content that exist in the periphery of the main story (and are largely for myself); there isn’t much to do, other than heading into the digital metropolis to seek more prospective agents. Alas, I suffer from directional incompetence.

I do, terribly and sincerely beg your pardon from including entries about matters aside from literature and the like, but I find that my pictorial arts to be of importance.

Please bear with me.
